CHOBE
NATIONAL PARK , LINYANTI GAME RESERVE
AND SAVUTE
To the northeast of
the Okavango Delta are the Chobe and
Linyanti game reserves. These parks
are renowned for the predators and large
concentrations of game, in particular,
Elephant. There are many varied habitats
within these parks, marshes, woodlands,
riverine forests dry woodlands and the
Savuti Channel. The Savute channel connects
the Linyanti with the interior of Chobe
National Park. The Linyanti is a 275
000 acre wildlife reserve on Chobe's
western boundary. Chobe National Park
is known for excellent game viewing
all year round and for the largest concentration
of Elephant to be found in Africa.
CHOBE CHILWERO LODGE
NORTHERN CHOBE
Located on the border of the Chobe National
Park. This luxury lodge offers spectacular
panoramic views across the islands and
flood plains - as far as Namibia.
Accommodation consist of nine double
and six twin luxury cottages with en
suite bathroom facilities, sunken hand
crafted baths, indoor and outdoor showers,
private gardens and terraces overlooking
the magnificent Chobe River. The main
public area includes an elegant lounge
and dining room, linked to spectacular
outdoor viewing decks. Guests enjoy
elegantly appointed rooms, gourmet meals
and fine wines.
Activities offered are game drives in
open safari vehicles and boat cruises
on the Chobe River.
CHOBE GAME LODGE
NORTHERN CHOBE
The only permanent game lodge located
within the Chobe National Park, on the
banks of the Chobe River. The elegant
lodge can accommodate up to one hundred
guests in beautifully furnished en suite
rooms with mini bars overlooking the
Chobe River.
Activities are game drives in open safari
vehicles and boat cruises on the Chobe
River especially popular at sunset.
A Swimming pool is located on the river
bank, and dining area and lounges are
elegantly designed to offer maximum
views of the Chobe River and further
into the Caprivi, located across the
river in Namibia.
CHOBE SAVANNA LODGE
(Namibian side NORTHERN CHOBE)
In the northern extreme of Chobe National
Park is an expanse of floodplains and
savanna called the Puku Flats. Chobe
Savanna Lodge, on a private concession
on the Namibian side of the Chobe River
provides an exclusive retreat for twenty
four guests in stylish brick and thatch
suites, all with private decks and en
suite bathroom facilities. Activities
are water based, and game viewing is
offered in small motorised boats and
canoes. Walking safaris are also offered,
which includes visits to a local African
village. Fishing opportunities are excellent.
CHOBE MARINA LODGE
NORTHERN CHOBE
Situated on the banks of the Chobe River.
This sixty six romed lodge enjoys river
frontage looking across the Caprivi
strip and toward the Chobe National
Park, home to huge herds of elephant
and buffalo. Game drives guarantee ,
as with all lodges in Chobe, excellent
sightings of game and abundant bird
life. Boat cruises on the Chobe River
are also a daily activity. Rooms are
thatched, and offer comforts such as
air conditioning, ceiling fans, television,
telephones and mini bars.
THE LINYANTI
DUMA TAU CAMP LINYANTI
Located in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve
and is built on raised decks under trees
overlooking a lagoon. There are day
and night game drives short nature walks
along the Linyanti River and Savuti
Channel whilst the camps boat will take
visitors to view Hippos. A number of
hides are available from where animals
may be viewed and photographed within
close proximity. High concentrations
of Impala, Sable Roan, Wildebeest, Red
Lechwe, Giraffe, Zebra Waterbuck, Buffalo,
Wildebeest Zebra, Lion .Cheetah, Wild
Dog, Aardwolf and many more species
. Accommodation is in luxurious, raised
and tented rooms under thatch, with
en suite facilities, flush toilets,
indoor and outdoor showers. There is
a dining room, bar lounge and plunge
pool.
Ten guest rooms, including a family
room, day and night game and nature
drives, bird watching, short guided
walks, boating 9water levels permitting)
fishing, hides and swimming pool.
KINGS POOL CAMP
LINYANTI
This luxury camp overlooks the Kings
Pool Lagoon and the Linyanti River.
Accommodation is in nine well appointed
tented rooms, with large private bathrooms,
which are tiled, have a shower . toilet
and hand basin, and an additional outside
shower. The lounge dining room and bar
are under thatch and there is an open
air 'kgotla" for ding under the
stars. Day and night game drives and
walks are offered, while the double
decker boat cruises the Linyanti River
offering spectacular viewing, water
levels allowing. There are several hides
and an underground hide overlooking
a waterhole. One of the highlights of
this camp is the high wildlife noise
levels. Concentrations of impala, lechwe,
kudu, zebra , buffalo lion. Leopard,
Cheetah, wild dog, and many more are
found in the vicinity of camp.
LINYANTI TENTED
CAMP LINYANTI
Located on the east of Kings Pool and
close to the western boundary of Chobe
National Park - camp has a rustic charm
of an old-style safari camp, with huge
lagoons and rivers filled with papyrus
and phragmites. There are five tents,
with en suite facilities, showers and
flush toilets. The dining and bar areas
are under canvas. Activities include
day and night game and bird drives and
walks, Canadian canoeing and boating.
Sable and roan antelope. Lion, Leopard,
Wild Dog, Elephant and more species
occur. The marshes are home to Red Lechwe,
Sitatunga, Hippo, Crocodiles and bird
life.
Note; this camp can only be booked by
guests on a "Jacana Safari"
or by private groups whishing to book
the entire camp.
KWANDO CAMP LEBALA
LINYANTI
This is one of the finest tented safari
camps in Africa. Lebala means "wide
open spaces" in Setswana and the
scenery is dominated by vast plains
scattered with palms and tree clumps
backed by wooded savannahs. This wild
expanse is contrasted with the casual
elegance of the luxurious camp itself.
Lebala is located thirty kilometres
to the south of lagoon camp and fronts
into the Linyanti wetlands. The accommodation
consist of eight spacious tents built
on raised platforms. Each tent has an
entrance foyer with reading and writing
area, en suite bathroom with Victorian
Clawfoot bathtubs, his and hers wash
basins and flush toilets. Each secluded
tent also has its own sundeck and is
set back amongst the trees. The endless
vistas from the Large windows and decks
across the vast plains make Lebala one
of the finest wilderness camps in Africa.
The wetlands and floodplains around
Lebala offer wonderful game viewing
and variety, excellent sightings of
elephant, giraffe, hippo, lechwe, buffalo,
zebra, hippo, impala, wildebeest, kudu,
tsessebe, roan, sable, predators, wild
dog, lion , cheetah and hyena. Activities
are guided walks, boating and game drives.
KWANDO LAGOON CAMP
LINYANTI
Lagoon camp is located on the banks
of the Kwando river among tall, ancient
African Ebony and Marula trees. Camp
accommodates only twelve guests in six
twin bedded luxury safari tents. Each
tent looks over the water and has private
en suite facilities, with open air showers
and flush toilets. Morning and night
game drives are conducted in open safari
vehicles by specialist safari guides.
The area is home to large herds of elephant
and buffalo - one of the few places
where such large herds exists, especially
in the dry season. The shaded tree environment
of the camp hosts a great variety of
birds and squirrels. Predators are well
represented by lion, hyena, leopard,
cheetah and wild dog. Boat cruises along
the Kwando river provide opportunities
for bird watching. Fishing is a speciality
- fly - fishing and spinner fishing
for Tiger and Bream is offered.
SELINDA CAMP LINYANTI
The Selinda encompasses 1350sq km of
private wildlife reserve and straddles
the only link between the waters of
the Okavango and the Linyanti Swamps
- The Selinda Spillway. Swamps, open
floodplains and palm studded islands
is characteristic of the area, the source
of the Savute channel and focal point
for wildlife in the area. Selinda Camp
is a small six twin spacious tented
camp under canvas, suspended under thatch,
in the old African tradition. Tents
are tastefully appointed with hand-tooled
furnishings, private verandahs and en
suite facilities. The double tier lounge
and dining room with traditional campfire,
overlooks the spillway offereing excellent
game viewing. Safari activities from
camp include game drives by 4x4 vehicles,
and walks conducted by professional
guides, night drives, and also three
day walking safaris ( see this walking

classics") The Selinda is known
for its hippo-killing lion, cheetah,
wild dog, elephant and other varieties
of game.
SAVUTI CAMP LINYANTI
Savuti Camp is located along the Savuti
channel, which stopped flowing in 1980.
What used to be a hippo-filled river
is now grassland and legendary predators'
enclave. The intimate camp is located
in an isolated area of the reserve.
Accommodation is in five large walk-in
tents with en suite bathroom facilities
- each bathroom has a shower, flush
toilet and washbasin. Guests are offered
game drives, night drives, walks with
armed guide and several hides for safe
close-up animal viewing. Savuti camps'
woodpile hide is well known for the
best elephant viewing, where one feels
what it is like to be part of the herd.
Game concentrations are high, particularly
during winter ( July - October) . Besides
the plains game there are Roan, Sable
Giraffe, Lion., Leopard, Cheetah, Wild
Dog and a dense Elephant population.
The waterhole in front of the camp is
the only source of water over a large
area in winter and offers wonderful
wildlife viewing from the camp. Activities
are game and nature drives, night drives,
bird watching, guided walks, elevated
hides as well as a swimming pool.
SAVUTE ELEPHANT
CAMP - SAVUTE - CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
In the arid desert of the Kalahari Sandveldt
, in the far north of Botswana lies
Savute Elephant Camp. Rain is rare and
water precious in this corner of Chobe
National Park. The mysterious dry Savute
channel abound with some of Africas
largest and most impressive creatures,
reigning supreme - the Elephant. Savute
Elephant Camp consist of luxurious,
air-conditioned tents, each with own
private viewing deck and en suite bathrooms.
Game viewing activities are game drives
in open safari vehicles.
SAVUTE SAFARI LODGE

Savute safari Lodge accommodates twenty
four guests in twelve spacious twin
bedded luxury wood and thatch chalets
with private game viewing decks overlooking
the nearby waterhole. Facilities include
a pool with a view as well as a game
viewing deck where guests can enjoy
lunches and dinners while watching the
elephant.
Activities include game drives to the
Savute Marsh in open safari vehicles,
and drives to the nearby ancient San
(bushman) painting.
