Located on the border
of Zimbabwe and Zambia, one of the natural
Wonders of the world. In the local language,
it is called “Mosi –oa-
Tunya”. The “smoke that
thunders” – describing the
spray and roar as the Zambezi drops
over 300 feet into the narrow gorge
below. The first European explorer to
see The Falls was David Livingston in
1855. On both sides of the river there
are fine hotels to choose from, as well
as breathtaking activities.
HOW TO GET
THERE
From Johannesburg and
Cape Town, regularly scheduled flights
to
Victoria Falls airport- Zimbabwean side,
as well as to Livingston airport The
Zambian gateway. From Windhoek regular
flights to Victoria Falls.
We transfer by road from airports to
hotels and lodges on both sides.
The Victoria Falls
offers a multitude of action packed
activities on both the Zambian and the
Zimbabwean sides. There is something
for everyone - from gentle pontoon boat
sunset cruises on the Zambezi River,
to the wildest one day white water rafting
trips in the world (The Zambezi is a
grade five river) There are game drives
in the national parks, bungee jumping
off the Victoria Falls bridge, which
forms the border between Zambia and
Zimbabwe, canoeing trips, helicopter
flight over the mighty falls and Elephant
Back safaris .
There are many fine
hotels and lodges on both the Zambian
and Zimbabwean sides of the Zambezi
River, which forms the natural border
between the two countries.
The falls itself are
divided into five separate falls - Devils
cataract, Main falls, Horseshoe falls,
Rainbow falls and Eastern cataract,
ranging in height from 60 to 110m. The
flow peak is normally during mid April,
when the spray may rise up to
450m into the air - hence it is also
called "Mosi -oa- Tunya" -

by regularly scheduled flights from
Johannesburg and Winhdoek.
ACTIVITIES
OFFERED AT THE VICTORIA FALLS
GUIDED FALLS TOURS
The falls is classed as one of the natural
wonders of the world. Daily scheduled
morning and afternoon tours are offered
on both the Zambian and Zimbabwean sides,
with the walk taking longer on the Zimbabwean
side. The view is magnificent
From both sides.
SCENIC FLIGHTS
Flights are flown by helicopter or fixed
wing aircraft and duration is usually
fifteen minutes. Views form the air
is magnificent, taking in the mighty
Zambezi and the surrounding area.
ELEPHANT BACK SAFARIS
Elephant Safaris are twice daily - early
morning and afternoon. You are transferred
to the Elephants Camp and after a short
introduction to the Elephants your safari
through the bush begins. Depending on
the time of day, a full English breakfast
is served on the morning safari, and
the afternoon safari includes snacks.
The duration of the safari is approximately
3 hours - allowing for a one and a half
hour ride on Elephant Back.
VISIT TO TRADITIONAL
VILLAGE
This tour may be combined with the guided
falls tour, or taken on it's own aunique
reconstructed African Village depicts
the way of life of the six main Zimbabwean
ethnic groups.
NATURE SANCTUARY
AND CROCODILE FARM
At the nature sanctuary informative
guides reveal the fascinating life history
of one of the most feared reptiles -
The Crocodile. On display are the different
ages of these reptiles - from hatchlings
to full grown weighing up to 400 kg.
The sanctuary also hosts cats, seldom
seen in the wild, as well as butterfly
and bird gardens.
MORNING AND AFTERNOON
GAME DRIVES
The Zambezi National Park, part of a
much larger conservation area extending
into Botswana, is noted for its population
of sable antelope and other game. In
this 56 000 ha wilderness, elephant,
lion. Buffalo, giraffe. Eland. Kudu,
waterbuck, impala and zabra are found.
Vehicles used may be open safari vehicles,
or specially adapted minibuses, depending
on demand.
FULL DAY GAME DRIVE
WITH LUCNH CRUISE
The tour starts with a leisurely game-viewing
and bird - watching drive in the Zambezi
National Park. Around midday the tour
continues to the jetty for a relaxing
lunch cruise. BBQ'D meats and salads
are served on board the pontoon boat,
with a cash bar on board. In the afternoon,
the tour continues with a drive through
the residential areas of the Victoria
Falls and on to the Chambonda area the
Zambezi National Park - an ancient watercourse
and now open grasslands. Game viewing
en route to the waterhole with a viewing
platform where game often comes to drink
in the afternoons.
TRADITIONAL DANCING
AT THE CRAFT VILLAGE
The dancing is at the traditional craft
village - the perfect back drop for
the dancers displaying the legends and
folklore of their ancestors. The show
durations is an hour.
FLIGHT OF ANGELS
BY HELICOPTER 15 minutes
Takes place with fifteen minute intervals
throughout the day - viewing the Falls
and surrounding areas.
HELI GAME FLIGHT
30 minutes
Flight departs twice daily - morning
and afternoons. Swoop over the Zambezi
and hover over the thundering falls
- a perfect photographic opportunity.
Proceed down the Zambezi to view game
on the river banks.
LIVINGSTON ISLAND
LUNCH
Transfer to Zambia and continue to Livingston
by boat. Sparkling wine is served, followed
by a three-course lunch, served on the
island with it's unique position close
to the falls. Local wines, beers, spirits,
soft drinks tea and coffee is included.
The cruise lasts three and a half hours
- If Zambian visas are required, it
will be at additional cost.
LUNCH CRUISE
Offered daily from all Victoria Falls
hotels. BBQ'd meats and salads are served
on board the boat, with a cash bar on
board. Cruise lasts approximately three
hours.
SUNSET CRUISE
(spectacular sunsets)
Departs daily for all Victoria Falls
hotels. The cruise is by pontoon boat,
serving drinks and snacks on board.
Duration is two hours.
WHITE WATER RAFTING
ON THE ZAMBEZI
Full and half day trips are offered.
Please check on booking as the trips
vary according to high and low season.
Low water is July - January, and High
water is mid January to mid July. Before
each trips there is a briefing given
by your experienced guide. Then continue
to the Gorge for practicing in the raft.
Proceed with your guide through some
of the most exciting rapids in the world,
drifting Between rapids through breathtaking
gorge scenery. Lunch is served by all
companies, in the gorge and in the afternoon
continue if you are on a full day trip.
An extremely strenuous climb awaits
at the end of the days rafting, after
which you are transferred back to town
whilst local branded beers are served.
Overnight trips utilising basic camps
on the banks of the Zambezi can also
be arranged.
CANOEING ON THE
ZAMBEZI
Full and half day trips are offered
daily. Half day trips includes breakfast
on the river bank before commencing.
On the full day trip - the transfer
to the river includes a game drive in
the Zambezi National park, prior to
full English breakfast being served
at the commencement point of the safari.
Lunch is served on one of the island
in the river - salads, cold meats and
soft drinks. Local beers are served
at the end of the days canoeing.
FULL DAY CHOBE SAFARI
FROM VICTORIA FALLS
Transfer across the Botswana border,
completing immigration and customs formalities,
before continuing to Chobe National
Park. Cruise on the Chobe River with
a chance of spotting elephant and other
game species coming to drinks and bathe
in the river - as well as many bird
species. Lunch is served at the Chobe
Safari Lodge in Kasane - located on
the banks of the Chobe River. The afternoon
continues with a game drive in open
vehicles into the Chobe National Park,
with a chance of spotting lion and buffalo
and numerous plains game. Transfer back
to Victoria Falls in the late afternoon.
AFRICAN VILLAGE
VISIT
The days insight into real rural African
life starts with a visit to a rural
primary school. Proceed to a business
centre in the village and end with visits
to two homesteads to meat local people.
Refreshments are served. Tour is morning
only.
FULL DAY HWANGE
GAME DRIVE
From Victoria Falls is offered a full
day game drive in Hwange National park.
The drive is by open safari vehicle,
allowing a chance to spot large numbers
of game species in one of Zimbabwe's
most prolific game areas. Return to
Hwange Safari Lodge for lunch. An afternoon
game drive in the park completes the
game viewing experience for the day.
Transfer back to Victoria Falls late
afternoon.
BOMA DINNER VICTORIA
FALLS
The Boma - place of eating - nestling
amidst indigenous forest and partially
open to the African Sky - offers a unique
dining experience. The gastronomic experience
combines excellent cuisine, served traditionally,
with traditional dancers, singers and
a local witchdoctor and a sangoma (
storyteller) to entertain you throughout
your meal. The décor is traditional
Ndebele style. Specialties are traditional
Zimbabwean cuisine, as well as vegatarian
dishes. For a genuine cultural experience,
dinner at The Boma" should be included
in your safari plan.
